A long list of potentially harmful ingredients banned in the EU is legally allowed in the US due to historically relaxed regulations. Join us in demanding that our government officials set higher standards around what is allowed in the medicines we consume. The disparity in standards between the EU and the US has grown to the extent it touches almost every element of most Americans’ lives.
In cosmetics alone, the EU has banned or restricted more than 1,300 chemicals while the US has outlawed or curbed just 11. In fact, in January 2019, a bill was put forward by a Connecticut Senator to mandate that any cosmetics in the US “meet the chemical safety standards established by the European Union”.
The same is true of our medicines. Known ingredients in top-selling OTC medicines include talc, wood pulp, artificial dyes, propylene glycol, formaldehyde, and hundreds more that we should never put in our bodies. It's time that we demand better.
