In honor of World Vegan Month, we spoke with Margaret Chapman of The Plant Philosophy, a vegan food and lifestyle blog. We love combing through Margaret's recipes and were excited for the opportunity to hear some of her favorites:
You have so many incredible recipes on your blog. What are some of your favorites for fall?
Thank you so very much! I'd have to say that I'm fond of all the comfort dishes. Usually potato or squash heavy. This season my absolutely favorite recipe has to be my Shepard's Pie Stuffed Acorn Squash. It's satisfying and seasonal.

What are some of your favorite non-food vegan products and how do you incorporate them into your day-to-day?
I love to use natural alternatives to conventional products. On a daily basis I use Cocokind's moisturizer after washing my face before bed and I always reach for my Brush with Bamboo toothbrush paired with Watch Your Mouth essential oil from Well Scent. Aside from personal care items, I swear by diffusing essential oils for maintaining a calm and relaxing space. Sometimes I'll take a Stress Relief from Genexa if I'm having a particularly challenging day. It really curbs my anxiety.
What are your tips for people who may be new to the vegan lifestyle and want to adopt more conscious habits?
It's very important to read labels and double check ingredients. I usually avoid anything that contains animal byproducts as well as ingredients I can't pronounce. A general rule of thumb for me is - if I can't pronounce it, I probably shouldn't eat/use it. Definitely do your research on brands, I make an effort to support vegan brands and/or vegan products from brands that don't usually offer a veggie option.
I love to see what others are eating or using and from there I try out new products and learn about better brands. I generally look for a company that's striving to produce quality over quantity, plant-based items that are eco-friendly.
Tell us about your experience using organic medicine.
Since transitioning to a vegan lifestyle, over 4 years ago, I've avoided medicine because the vast majority is tested on animals and/or it contains animal byproducts. Since learning about Genexa, I no longer feel like I have to tough it out if I'm feeling under the weather. Recently my husband woke up with a bad cold so I gave him Genexa's Cold Crush and after 2-3 doses over the span of 3 days he was completely cured! I'm thrilled to have a brand of products that contains organic, non-GMO ingredients. It fits my lifestyle because I know and understand every ingredient and it's purpose. I feel confident enough to recommended it to friends and family.
What are some of the positive impacts you've seen in your personal life by choosing a vegan lifestyle?
Overall health and wellness. I'm genuinely a happier, healthier and more confident individual. This lifestyle has pushed me to become a better person inside and out. I know I'm eating foods that make me feel my best, while saving countless animals in the process. That alone makes this lifestyle incredibly rewarding.
